Once again New Zealanders are the subject to grand social experimentation by politicians and bureaucrats trying to make the country punch above its weight on the world stage.

The economic reforms of the '80's (no gain without pain!) under the Labour party proved at disaster with the family silver sold off and now we have comrade Helen leading us into disaster with the Kyoto house of cards. Carbon taxes and credits and other jargon, a licence to print money if you ask me and even before it's off the ground, the experts are fighting amongst themselves as to the benefits (minimal?) and unintended consequences.

We are a small country. We do not have to be at the front and be the guinea pigs for the rest of the world to learns what not to do. Politicians, Bureaucrats, pull your heads in, watch, wait and learn from other countries. If they do nothing, then what we will have done will count as nothing in the scale of things global, but in the meantime you will have ruined the lives of untold numbers of New Zealand citizens.

Conservation is something which we can all learn for ways to improve our planet and curb wastefulness. The crackpot economic theories which are about to be foisted upon us is not the solution.
