Mara Estate Merlot 1996

This wine is a lighter red with similarities to the French style of wine making. Clean fruit with not much of a bouquet the colour was bright and cherry in both look and flavour. Soft tannins, it went well with the roast lamb. For an 11 year old wine it has held up well and probably gained some complexity along its journey. If you enjoy drinking European styles wines, this one will reward you for patient cellaring if you have any still sitting in yours.
