Sevenhill Cellars St Ignatius 1998.
The flagship wine of the Jesuit brothers at Sevenhill, the illustration to the left is the 2004 vintage. The 1998 bottle had the label information etched into the glass. The back label gave the cellaring potential as 6-8 years which was pretty conservative if the bottle we enjoyed was anything to to go by. The grape variety proportions vary from vintage to vintage for this wine, for example the current vintage (2004) has 50% cabernet and less malbec. The fruit was still good with spice flavours and light tannins. Cherry, chocolate and a hint of mint would be a fair description of flavours to hit you. If you have any in your cellar, it should hold up for a number of years yet.
