1997 Penfolds 389.

A multi-regional blend from South Australian vineyards, matured in oak casks that held the previous vintage of Grange. The 1997 vintage was not a great one for SA wines and this wine doesn't have the intensity often associated with 389. Having been in the cellar for 8 years it is showing a good smooth integration of all its elements finishing in a spicey medium weight style. It's probably passed its peak and any left in your the cellar should be enjoyed over the next 2-4 years rather than be kept in the expectation of further improvement.
