1998 Grant Burge Filsell Shiraz.

The current vintage of this wine is 2006 and the price is now $44 though you can get it on special around $33. It's quite rewarding to find a bottle that you have cellared for a number of years is drinking right at its peak and you paid around half the current price. Oak and fruit are integrated perfectly, the American oak giving it a slight sweetness, but the coconut influence usually associated with it is not apparent. Fruit is still a plenty and one could rave on about chocolate, berries and the like, but suffice it to say that this is "Aussie shiraz" at its best.
